Homemade Morning Eye Solution with Witch Hazel
January 31, 2016
Many of us have a simple yet effective evening routine for our face, including washing away the impurities (picked up throughout our busy day) and then applying some kind of facial moisturizer or even my baggy eye solution. But what happens in the morning? That’s when it’s time for my homemade morning eye solution, especially for those who want to get rid of bags under the eyes.
Bags under the eyes are a common development of age and a frequent complaint among my patients who no longer feel as youthful as they once did. To describe what happens a bit more, normal fat that helps support the eyes sometimes moves into the lower eyelids, which causes the lids to appear puffy. Additionally, fluid may accumulate in the area below your eyes, which adds to the swelling.
Using this homemade morning eye solution can help get rid of bags under your eyes by relying on the four key ingredients that make it up. The most prominent ingredients is witch hazel, a plant extract with high levels of healing active ingredients that reduce inflammation, cellular damage and swelling, while also soothing wounds.
In a small glass jar, combine witch hazel with two key essential oils that aid the skin, chamomile and lavender oil, in addition to benefit-rich aloe vera, which is loaded with anti-inflammatory properties. Place the jar in the refrigerator overnight.
Upon waking, apply a small amount of the solution around the eyes and let it sit as long as possible. Gently remove with a homemade facial wash. Then apply a moisturizer.

Thx..,

Some witch hazels contain alcohol and others don’t – which is recommended for this recipe, and is this recipe for external and/or internal eye use? If this recipe is for external use only, might you or someone else know where I could find some Aloe Vera eye drops for natural eyeball moisturizing? Thank you.
Which brand of witch hazel extract do you recommend?
Thank you?
Whoops! Dr Axe doesn’t read his comments… come on Dr Axe!
Why must this solution be rinsed off? It seems natural enough to leave on. Thanks.

Title says dark circles, article refers to bags. Those are two different issues.
Yeah right but which the two will cure?
Good question. I’m looking for an answer to the same.
Can you use something other than chamomile essential oil and get the same results
I can’t find chamomile essential oil. Please let me know if you used an alternative and if it worked.
Thank you.
Sounds great! I’m going to try it soon. Thanks. Esther
