I finally convinced my doctor to finally let me off statins. My cholesterol has been good for a long time. So, I am eating oats every day, soaked over night , in smoothies or with yogurt.
How does rye compare to oats,in order to keep my cholesterol level LDL down??
Any advice would be appreciated.

Being Scandinavian on both sides of my family, I’ve always made rye bread for Christmas meals, and really enjoy it year round as well. I wonder if rye bread is safe, or safer, for people with Hashimoto’s? I understand there’s a high percentage of Hashi’s patients that have wheat sensitivity, which I understand to be different than gluten sensitivity. Do you know if rye causes the same issues? I have worsening Hashimoto’s-caused food sensitivites, though am not certain if wheat sensitivity is one of those yet, as it never was before. I do notice that any time I eat even a modest amount of wheat bread that I start to gain weight right away, if that’s any indication of anything. I miss bread! I’d love to know if rye bread would be okay for me to eat given the likelihood of either already having a wheat sensitivity or of developing one soon due to Hashimoto’s that won’t quit (it’s caused by my Lyme Disease, so none of the usual Hashimoto’s protocols are working anymore). Any insights on this?
