Chocolate Avocado Mousse Recipe

Avocado Chocolate Mousse is one of my favorite healthy sweet treats! Avocados are a high fiber food, packed with healthy fats and rich in magnesium. With 30 percent of your daily value in one avocado, they are also one of the top potassium-rich foods. This gluten-free recipe is rich, smooth and satisfying.

Dr: I read that raw honey can carry bacteria that causes food poisoning; is this true?
I can’t stand dates, what other fruits can be substituted?
You could use raw honey
How many grams of sugar is in this? I’d love to try but it feels scary because all the dates and maple may really feed pathogens in the gut. What do you think?
Good recipe (no low calorie, low fat or “Lite” ingredients), but the dates are an option, and organic honey can be used instead of maple syrup. We use organic dark cacao. Excellent when topped with real organic whipped cream, or, fold in whipped cream to make mousse! A staple dessert at our house. :-)
Wow! This recipe is so good. Thanks Dr. Axe
Silly question… Do you take the seeds out of the dates??
Yes, they should be deseeded
I have raw cacao nibs. Can those be ground to use as a substitute for cocoa powder?
Those will be much more bitter

You mentioned somewhere and I can’t recall where that you can make this with your chocolate protein. How much and is it just an extra ingredient or in place of another one?
I would do chocolate protein powder instead of or as a part of the cacao ingredient. You could do 1/2 cup protein powder and 1/4 cup cacao or however you like. If you want a more chocolate flavor, you can always add a little more cacao than what is called for.
I made this tonight and finally stopped craving chocolate…. Thank you!
Great Recipe!!
Can also add 1 cup of coconut cream in place of the maple syrup and water – add stevia to sweeten. Yum!
That sounds delicious!
Is it true about anything with coconut is bad for diabetes?
Thanks, that is a good alteration for diabetes! :)
Actually people with diabetes shouldn’t eat or drink anything with coconut. It’s worse for you than natural sugar.
How long do you soak the dates for? Also, when soaking the dates, is it same process as sprouting and dehydrating where you have to add salt to the water?
Soaking the dates helps to make them soft so they can be easily incorporated into the recipe. You can soak them from 1-3 hours.
