Himalayan salt contains all the 86 elements it is exactly as was the sea millions of years ago

Celtic salt is processed as the sea is polluted. It must be processed to allow to sell
I would guess it loses half of its elements
All sea salt is polluted

AXE, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR CARING ABOUT PEOPLE ENOUGH TO SHARE YOUR EXPERT KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING HEALTH. IT’S HUMAN BEINGS LIKE YOU THAT MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE. BECAUSE OF AN ACUTE OVERLOAD OF MOLD SPORES, I HAVE BIOTOXIN ILLNESS/TOXIC MOLD SYNDROME. THIS MALADY CAUSES CIRS (CHRONIC INFLAMMATORY SYNDROME ). I HAVE AN INTOLERANCE TO MOLD SPORES. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE IN VARIOUS CONCENTRATIONS & I SUFFER LITERALLY ALMOST 24/7. I HAVE A FAULTY HLA GENE WHICH PREVENTS MY SYSTEM FROM ELIMINATING THE TOXIC MOLD SPORES. THERE ARE 25% OF THE POPULATION WHO POSSESS THIS FAULTY GENE. UNLESS SOMEONE COMES UP WITH A METHOD OF ALTERING THIS GENE, THERE IS NO CURE. THERE IS ONLY AVOIDANCE OF THE OFFENDING CONTAMINANT & RIDDING THE BODY OF THE TOXIN BY USING PRODUCTS SUCH AS CHARCOAL, CLAY, DE , ETC.. YOU HAVE SPOKEN ABOUT THESE ALTERNATIVE REMEDIES. TO GET TO MY POINT CONCERNING THE HIMALAYAN SALT, I WAS SEARCHING THE INTERNET TO FIND A REMEDY THAT WOULD LESSEN MY SYMPTOMS OF SHORTNESS OF BREATH, BURNING LUNGS & NASAL PASSAGES, NERVOUS SYSTEM DISRUPTION (I BECOME ANXIETY RIDDEN), NAUSEA, NEAR FAINTING& SEVERE WEAKNESS. I CAME ACROSS AN INHALER WHICH CONTAINED (YOU GUESSED IT) HIMALAYAN SALT. IT WAS THE FIRST INGREDIENTON THE LABEL. IT ALSO CONTAINS OILS PEPPERMINT, EUCALYPTUS, LAVENDER & TEA TREE. IT IS CALLED A ” NETI INHALER “. (YOU HAVE SPOKEN ABOUT THE BENEFICIAL EFFECTS OF OILS). AND IT WORKS ! IT QUICKLY CALMS MY LUNGS & SOOTHS MY NASAL PASSAGES, WHICH IS A LOT OF RELIEF FOR AN OTHERWISE MISERABLE EXPERIENCE. THE ONLY TIME THAT IT TAKES A BIT LONGER TO WORK IS WHEN I’VE BEEN INHALING SPORES FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME OR HAVE AN OVERLOAD OF THE SHERE QUANTITY OF THE CONTAMINANT. THEN I HAVE TO USE IT SEVERAL TIMES AT DIFFERENT INTERVALS TO GET THE SAME RESULTS. I CAN FEEL THE HEALING EFFECTS OF THE HIMALAYAN SALT. IT IS NOT EXPENSIVE…AROUND $8.99 ON AMAZON. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INFORMATION ABOUT THE SALT LAMP. I WILL BUY SEVERAL, AS I KNOW THE SALT WORKS. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR SHARING YOUR WISDOM WITH SUFFERERS LIKE ME. YOU ARE TRULY A GOD SEND. GOD BLESS YOU & YOUR FAMILY. 💘

I bought a salt lamp for myself at Christmas last year. I was looking for a gift idea for a few friends, but when i saw one, lit in the store….well, one slipped into the cart for myself. I have it next to my bed and find the light comforting, almost like a campfire. Being a nurse, its nice to know the factual reason why it is so calming. 🌌

I would not use it as table salt since Celtic Sea Salt contains more trace minerals than pink Himalayan salt and won’t raise your blood pressure. Check out Dr. Bob’s website as he recommends using Celtic Sea Salt in the diet instead of table salt. He is a well known Chiropractic/ Health and Wellness doctor in Westlake, Oh.

It displays all the physical signs of a real salt lamp including the sweating! I even chipped a piece off with a butter knife… I bought the salt lamp from Bealls Outlet and it was wrapped in plastic outside of its box, so there was not a box of information about it. The plug on it said FAME. I feel like mine has to be a fake, but it is made of real salt, tastes like salt on top of being fragile, heavy, and much darker in thick areas, along with the crying. This white lamp is also about as dark as my authentic orange/pink ones with the same lights. Where would a cheap salt lamp be sourced from and what would a fake salt lamp be made of? I feel like my white one is real salt but not Himalayan, so where would it have been sourced from? Outside of this, I find it weird that I ordered a larger orange salt lamp (this one is authentic and from Pakistan) and it turned out red, why would they have sent me a red one and not a orange one?

I myself own salt lamps because the ambient light they give off when lit is wonderfully warming and relaxing, but these aren’t miracle cures and much of what’s written here is bogus. Salt is salt. Just simple NaCl. We find these deposits all over this planet. We also have blue salt and purple salt and crystal clear salt. There’s nothing special about those salts and there’s nothing special about pink or orange salt, either. Sometimes these colors come form a simple mistake in the mineral crystal lattice. Other times, particularly with pink salt, it’s due to bacteria. Yep. Bacteria.

Pakistan is truly brilliant – it’s fooled the American consumerism machine into purchasing SALT at prices far greater than what salt is worth, especially given how much salt we have on this planet!

Furthermore, this list manages to omit the most glaringly obvious test to tell if your lamp is real – THE LICK TEST. That suggests the author of this piece is not actually familiar with their subject matter at all, so readers beware. An actual lamp made of salt WILL taste like salt. So if you want to know if yours is real, just lick it. It will taste very salty! I mean VERY salty. Like extreme sea water – too salty to be enjoyable, making you pucker.

It will also get hot. Salt is an excellent heat conductor. It will shed because salt is one of the softest minerals (you should be able to scratch it with nothing more than your fingernail – if instead your fingernail get’s brittle than it isn’t salt) and, yes, it will sweat.

Pakistan does not – BY ANY MEANS – have the market cornered on pink salt. You could safely make pink salt in your own kitchen with a little saltwater mixture and some chemistry ingenuity. Nor is this salt in some way more special due to its pinkness or the presence of trace elements. All salt has trace elements. Even your table salt has them. NaCl likes to bond with Mg, Ca and K. So, nothing special there. These are all elements we find in our food supply. These elements aren’t found in salts in quantities large enough to influence your air supply. That’s why we geologists call them ‘trace’ in salts. You’re far better off installing a HEPA filter.

Pakistan markets salt mined from it’s deposits as lamps because it can’t market it as food. Their salt deposits are interbedded with other mineral deposits that make it difficult to turn their salt into table salt. Nobody wants to be pouring salt on their food that’s been mixed in with quartz deposits (quartz is a far harder mineral than salt – hard enough to scratch tooth enamel, hence the Pakistani dilemma).

Finally, “Himalaya” is a bogus misnomer. Even if your pink salt is coming from Pakistan, it sure isn’t coming from the Himalayan mountain belt. These Pakistani salt mines are hundreds of kilometers from that mountain range.

Still, they truly are a nice lighting alternative if you don’t like incandescent bulbs.

Dear Carole

I would contact a building biologist to help you with your mould issues. I am based in Australia and I assume you are in the States. The answer is ventilation in the walls. A building biologist will know how to help you. I can recommend a good one but I am not sure where you are based?

Just a note for all “botched” flashing issues and the use of Sarking (foil insulation) are causing and adding to a lot of mould issues in new builds and renovations. Your walls need to breathe to deal with moisture transfer from inside and outside your homes. Cooking, showering and changes in temperature all add to this.

Mould cannot get a foot hold in a ventilated environment.

Carole have you looked into Myrrh for internal mould issues. Also Dr Shoemaker and his mould protocols?

FYI lower the EMR in your home environment, It interacts with the mould and your body mould. EMR would include WiFi, Bluetooth, Smart TVs, Cordless phones and mobiles. Just think hardwiring.

Best regards
Karla

Thanks for this article. I am a fan of these lamps for their beauty and I have found them helpful for my son’s asthma in a damp house. Here’s the but, as a building biologist (informally for 8 years and now studying with the German Building Biology school) I have to warn people whilst they are promoted as assisting with EMR (not proven) they also add to it. Surprise!

How? Often these lamps (and indeed many other regular lamps) are not electrically grounded properly (i.e. 3 pin grounded). I have measured high electric fields coming from the lamps with my meters, these fields can be picked up by the body or impact your health.

Secondly, on an esoteric level, it is believed the lamps are pulling in lots of negative energies (mould, dust and other) and some say, like crystals the lamps need clearing. The answer to this is said to be a Shungite tile placed under each lamp. I can’t confirm this but encourage lots of reading on Shungite properties and delve into some of the studies. Fascinating reading.

Thirdly, be careful with the water that can pool at the bottom of a lamp. You can get an electric shock from these.

Finally, prefer the non LED type of bulb. LED lights have serious and known health effects just like WiFi and we put them everywhere. I invite you to do your own research.

Despite all of this. I still love my lamps. I just wish they were made with grounded cords. It’s not that difficult to do.

In health,
Karla

Refer to Robyn’s advice on how to manage water and salt lamps below! She’s onto it.

there are good and bad products from china just as in america. don’t hate the chinese unless you just like to hate everyone. i have got many products from china, some good, some not so good, but when i wrote to them they did respond with good customer service, so your statement is false to say the least. however, if this is concerning, buy from an actual himalayan salt factory. people, do an internet search. himalayan salt factory is geniune and quality. promise! and there are many other sources of what i believe are geniune salt lamps. i have yet to see this “fake” salt lamp we are all to fear. also bed bath and beyond carries them with full guarantees. pretty much every retailer does at this point. so quit freeking out!

amazon is just a retailer. they don’t police such products. many products from many companies compete to sell their products on amazon. in other words, i would skip the middle man and just search for what seems a reputable source. look for customer satisfaction, service, and guarantees.

i got mine from local health food store. I am satisfied even tho can’t swear to benefits. on the other hand, many prescripts have also done me no good and reading the warnings scared me half to death. the lamps may no produce benefits you are aware of. i disagree with that requirement. depends on your sensitivity. still there are no serious side effects, and you may be preventing other bad things mentioned in the article which you also cannot feel directly. i believe in time these will all become known as truth. because the lying has to stop sometime.

both good questions. I would guess salty = real, but i guess someone could go thru trouble to color it. def would still fit all the other requirements for real however, in any case. I’m thinking dentist and docs say gargle with salt water for various illnesses. this is because salt of any kind is still antibacterial. so if reg salt, etc. i would bet still good for you and me. :)

as this is an older comment, let me just say from my research the toxic elements, if any at all, would be so small as to be inconsequential, whereas the benefits far outweigh any negatives. many foods and other substances that are natural and good for us have tiny amounts of these same so called toxic elements (not chemicals really unless you’re talking non organic fruits and veggies including tap water and maybe even water bottled in most plastics… i could go on and on here but i won’t) so thing is to get the good stuff. not to worry about the naysayers, they don’t even know what they’re talking about, it’s just their negative natures. maybe from the toxic chemicals all around us every day. bottom line is we need things that will help our bodies handle these things. to avoid all toxic chemicals and elements, you would have to be dead, as they really are everywhere.

It took some time in coming and when I queried about how long it was taking it came within five days. I asked my husband to set the lamp up and he found that the opening, as he put it too small for the bulb and lamp attachment. He said the bulb and holder was bigger than the opening as if it had not been reemed enough inside, to take the bulb and holder. I reported it to the dealer but had no reply. i Am wondering now if it is a true Salt Lamp.

I bought a large Himalayan salt lamp when I was sick with asthma and a lung infection. My husband was also sick with sinus issues at the time. We found when we were close to the lamp we breathed easier. We actually walked up to the lamp and breathed in. We were surprised. It works for us.
